What do we offer?

The LQ Recovery Suite is equipped with top-of-the-line recovery modalities, including a state-of-the-art Cold Plunge & Hot Tub unit, which allows you to go from a chilly 40°F to a soothing 104°F seamlessly for contrast therapy, as well as a brand new indoor traditional 2-person Sauna, designed to heat to 180°F.

Prioritizing your recovery often proves to be the crucial missing piece that can take your training to a whole new level… And most athletes take a poor approach to their recovery, if any at all. Why? Because it can be inconvenient, time-consuming, expensive, or confusing to know what to do, how to do it, or even when to do it. By providing a space dedicated to recovery, it is an ideal complement to the training we’re already doing.

This was my main motivation in launching this new project – to make recovery more convenient and to help athletes feel better, move better, and perform better.

Recovery is a game changer – and when done right, can reduce your risk of injury and allow you to be at your most optimal state for life and performance. Rest, recovery, and rejuvenation can facilitate both mental and physical advantages so that your athlete can get back to their most optimal level

If the answer to the question: “How do you feel now?” is “Better!” then, you’re on the path to Recovery!

But, my new Recovery Suite is not just for athletes… It is open to parents as well.

Prioritizing recovery isn’t just for athletes who play a sport -- as parents, it is easy to put your health and wellness on the backburner. However, spending time to rejuvenate, re-energize, and recharge can go a long way in promoting your health, wellness, and longevity.

I built this space out with parents in mind, because of the convenience factor. Many times, you are dropping off your athlete to train, just to sit in your car… Well, it might be the perfect time for you to consider adding some science-backed options for prioritizing your health.

Cold Plunging & Contrast Therapy

There is interesting anecdotal and empirical evidence behind cold water immersion, heat exposure, contrast therapy (cold plunge + hot tub/sauna back-to-back), and Sauna use that are beneficial for recovery, health, and longevity.

Namely, cold exposure for a specific duration triggers a cold shock that can boost metabolism, soothe sore muscles, support your immune system, decrease inflammation, and more.

For Cold Plunging specifically, Dr. Susanna Soberg, a metabolic scientist and researcher, has done some extensive research and come up with some intriguing protocols for combining cold and heat exposure. Namely, cold exposure for a specific duration triggers a cold shock that can boost metabolism, soothe sore muscles, support your immune system, decrease inflammation, and more.

Even more so, deliberately combining cold immersion with hot immersion (Contrast Therapy) has shown promising and practical benefits, such as…

- Reducing Inflammation

- Accelerating Healing

- Boosting your Immune System

- Decreasing Pain

- Improving Resilience, Focus, Mental Clarity

- Increasing Energy

Traditional Hot Sauna

One of my personal favorite modalities, and one that I personally now use often, is the Sauna. I was a skeptic of the sauna until I was introduced to the research on how game-changing it really is.

Dr. Rhonda Patrick, a cell biologist and biomedical scientist, is one of the leading researchers and proponents of traditional hot sauna therapy -- and her work on sauna use is what led me to investing in one for my facility. She is a wealth of knowledge, and does a phenomenal job at aggregating the scientific data, from a biological perspective, on the cellular effects of sauna use and why it is so beneficial.

Some of the most interesting data behind sauna use pertains to its association to decreasing all-cause mortality, robust effects on cardiovascular health, and actually mimics moderate aerobic cardio exercise (meaning, many physiological responses that happen when you engage in aerobic exercise--elevation of heart rate, raising core temperature, sweating, increase blood flow, & more--happen during sauna use). Which is fascinating!

Dr. Patrick also reports many links to brain health & function, lowering risk of certain brain diseases, and other robust effects depending on the frequency of sauna use.

She cites a study from 2015 that states an association with sauna bathing and a 40% decrease in all-cause mortality. Clearly, empirically studying true causation is very difficult, but there are extensive studies that she cites that show strong association between all-cause mortality and sauna bathing with findings that are very intriguing.

She strongly suggests that sauna use has valuable associations with strikingly better overall health, both in quality and duration, and maintains that sauna use is just as important as exercise and proper nutrition in terms of living healthier for a longer period of time.

If you’d like to dive into this more, she has a publication that is a comprehensive review covering multiple aspects of the potential benefits of sauna use titled, “Sauna use as a lifestyle practice to extend healthspan.” More research, if you’re interested, comes from Jari Laukkanen M.D., PhD out of his lab in Finland.
